SPG supports national, state, and regional-level junior performers

Junior Development Program

SPG excels in providing mental and physical assessment, training and support for junior performers

  • Does your child struggle to control their emotions while competing?
  • Does your child get anxious before competition and perform better in practice than competition?
  • Does your child struggle with repetitive injuries?
  • Is your child outperformed because their competitors are stronger, faster, fitter?
  • Do you want your child to learn to train the right way, at the right time, with the right skills?

SPG’s primary focus is junior performance. We care passionately about providing junior performers with world class psychological and physical training.

  • Coordination: SPG presents a unique opportunity for athletes to a gain a coordinated program of physical and mental training, amplifying the effects on performance of receiving training and support in isolation.  SPG also works in partnership with national leading performance centers, coaches and organizations who share our passion for developing performance without compromise.

Mental programs

SPG believes that psychological aspects of performance are skill based. They can be learnt and developed through appropriate specialist training and support. Research consistently demonstrates that juniors are more receptive to the development of psychological skills and have the capacity to develop these from 9 years old. These skills enable juniors to maximize performance in the sporting arena.

This proactive approach enables juniors to be more self aware, confident, experience less performance anxiety, remain focused under pressure, develop strategies and routines for success, and have higher levels of motivation, confidence and self-esteem. It also enables them to develop lifelong habits based upon learning and enjoyment regardless of ability

Physical programs

SPG is dedicated to ensuring junior performers reach their performance potential and remain injury free. All SPG physical conditioning is specific to the demands of the sport, the age and the individual development stage of each performer. SPG’s approach ensures each performer develops a strong physical foundation, balancing muscular development, optimizing range of movement, and reducing sport specific injuries.

SPG also places emphasis on teaching juniors other key physical aspects of performance such as hydration, nutrition, performing in the heat, recovery techniques, warming up and cooling down, and recognizing early signs of injury. This facilitates the development of lifelong habits to ensure not only future performance but physical long term well being.
